Mount Pleasant Baptist Church - Kansas City, Missouri
Mount Pleasant Baptist Church essentially wanted to provide their congregation with the full worship experience. One of the main goals was to be able to provide a recording of each service to the congregation by the time they walk out the door. To begin, Advanced Sound separated the house audio mix from the recording mix, since ideal levels for each of these are often different. The control room was then installed, with audio monitoring, tape duplicators and Pro Tools recording software at the center of it all. Also, wood samples were matched to provide a discreet, lockable mounting rack for the PA equipment near the altar. Finally, traditional hymnals were replaced by a video screen that utilizes Sunday Plus software, a presentation software designed exclusively for churches.
Westport United Methodist Church - Kansas City, Missouri
At the Westport United Methodist Church, Advanced Sound had the pleasure of working with a building that was built in a time before amplification technology. As a result, the architecture already provided a naturally, albeit insufficient, amplified sound. To complement this, Advanced Sound aimed ceiling-mounted speakers directly at the congregation, instead of bouncing their signal off of the curvature of the ceiling and walls, which would have caused a jumble of noise. Furthermore, having separate sets of speakers angled from the left, center, and right of the room, allows the amplified signal to come from its original direction. For example, the majority of the band's sound from the right will come through the right set of speakers. While the minister's signal will be mostly panned in the center. Advanced Sound also installed a projector in the rear of the church, which would allow for film and graphics to be displayed above the pulpit.
Athletic Club of Overland Park - Shawnee Mission, Kansas
This athletic club's gymnasium experienced a common problem associated with sound systems. Because of its architecture, it turned into an echo chamber. To contain this problem, Advanced Sound installed a grid of acoustic paneling.
